New subspecies R. ambiguum concinnum ssp. gonggaense found by Hans Eiberg in 2004 on Gongga Shan

The name R. var. gonggaense is also a possibility. R. ambiguum is changed to R. concinnum, since the underside of the leaves look like R. concinnum var. pseudoyanthinum. sept 2008. A large uniform population growth here without any R. ambiguum and R. concinnum (normal red type). Was earier described as R. lutescens by Warren Berg in JARS.

Description of R. ambiguum concinnum ssp. gonggaense: June 25, 2008 by Hans Eiberg
(Triflora ) Leaves: ovate-lanceolate. Lamina 5-11 cm. long, 3-5 cm broad. Upper surface yellow-green, scaly, midrib not or fine hairy (difficult to see);
under surface yellow-green (0-1 years old leaves), scaly, the scales unequal, large and medium-sized yellowish with few light brown scales, contiguous
to their own diameter apart. The yellow-green backgrown is most pronounced on new growth. The matrix is a little glaucouos, but difficult to see
The leaves look and smell like R. concinnum (pseudoyanthinum), but the flowers are yellow. Intermedium between R. ambiguum and R. concinnum

Seeds sold as RF 205/2004 from the Danish Chapters seed list (lutescens (broad leaf) is R. concinnum ssp. gonggaense
Add. Sept. 2008 West for Kangding we also found a population of plants with similar leaves, but here some of the flowers were more redish. We belived that these plants could be hybrids between R. concinnum and R. ambiguum, but we found no R. ambiguum in the area. But K. Cox wrote in his encyclopedia (version 1, p.340 line 8)that R. concinnum could not have yellow flowers, else it is a R. ambiguum. ARS, ambiguum Flora of China, ambiguum Flora of China, concinnum
