Beskrivelse

R. bainbridgeanum (Maculifera). Busk, 1 – 2 m. Klokkeformede blomster, der kan variere fra hvide, cremet hvid blussende rosa eller rose, cremet gul eller lyserød til rød-rosa, ofte plettede med lilla og med eller uden en bred blotch. Omvendt ægformet til elliptisk-formede blade med et beige til brun-farvet tyndt indument. Vokser blandt kampesten på klipperne, i åbne krat af krat og på kanten af nåleskove fra 3.000 til 4.000 m. i Kina og NØ-Burma. Skal plantes meget beskyttet mod frost. evt. med sten omkring for at hindre en for hurtig afkøling.

Shrubs, 1–2 m tall; old branches grayish white, glabrous; young shoots greenish, sparsely glandular-hairy. Petiole terete, adaxially flat, grooved, 10–15 mm, glabrous, abaxially conspicuously glandular hairy; leaf blade leathery, oblong-elliptic to obovate, 6–10 × 2–4.5 cm; base cordate; apex mucronate; abaxial surface indumentum persistent, thin, olivaceous or brownish yellow; adaxial surface green, densely rugulose, glabrous or hairy on midrib; midrib prominent abaxially, impressed adaxially; lateral veins 12–14-paired, slightly raised abaxially, slightly impressed adaxially. Inflorescence racemose-umbellate, 4–8-flowered; rachis ca. 5 mm, pilose. Pedicel slender, 1.5–2.5 cm, densely glandular-hairy; calyx membranous, lobes 5, 4–5(–9) mm, ovate to oblong, outer surface and margin with glandular hairs; corolla campanulate, white to cream, base with deep red spots, 2.5–3.5 cm, lobes 5, suborbicular, ca. 1.5 × 1.5–2 cm, apex emarginate; stamens 10, unequal, 1.5–2.5 cm, filaments pubescent at base; anthers ovate; ovary ovate, ca. 4 mm, glandular hairy; style ca. 2 cm, as long as corolla, base with slightly glandular hairs, stigma slightly expanded. Capsule cylindric, curved, ca. 20 × 4 mm. Fl. May–Jun, fr. Aug–Sep.

Coniferous forests, scrub, mountain slopes; 3300–3700 m. SE Xizang, NW Yunnan [Myanmar].
