R. cephalanthum ssp. cephalanthum var. crebreflorum (forma crebreflorum) (Pogonanthum). Har en lav kompakt krybende vækst 5-25 cm høj. og adskiller sig derved fra var. cephalanthum. Desuden har var. crebreflorum 6 støvdragere. Vildtvoksende i N. Burma og Assam (Arunachal Pradesh) ved 4000 m. Rhododendron crebreflorum Hutch. & Kingdon-Ward.
